DISTRACTIONS OF THE REAL WORLD...IN OTHER WORDS...WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN GOING ON...

Let's see...I've sent out a few "belated" birthday cards as I cannot seem to get my act together. So sorry girlies. I picked up a couple of graduation cards. I've got to get those in the mail because I'm certain they don't make a "belated" graduation card. If they did, would it be because the graduation was delayed or because the card was late. Don't spend too much time thinking that one through. I didn't.

We missed the library this week. I'll have to squeeze in little darling #2's weekly visit this Wednesday. Openly, I act like this is normal. However, secretly I love that I have a reader. Hee! Hee!

Mother's Day Morning we visited the cemetary as hubby lost his mother in March. Little darling #2 had fun with mommy chasing her in church clothes through the headstones. Not Funny. She also wanted to know why we were leaving the flowers and started crying for them when we left.

Mother's Day Evening we visited my mother. Why is it the family visits for me mean overeating? It's not like that was encouraged when I was a child. Hell, I remember being openly critized for my weight at home. I think it is ironic that all four of us girls have weight issues. What could that possibly mean?????

Regardless of my snarky comments, it was a good visit. Little darling #2 and I picked strawberries again. We needed a break from the family. One day I need to try and explain sister #2's marriage as I don't get it. Seriously, her life could be a blog all by itself. Sister #3 left her hubby at home (Thank Gawd) and Sister #4 is not married (oh she has issues too). I love them to death, but can only take them in small doses.

Happy Mother's Day to all! I hope you got what you wanted. We know that was peace and quiet without having to lift a finger. But we all know that was not the case. Here's to hoping your day was great no matter what.

Typical Saturday...Sort Of!

First, what is a typical Saturday?  Here we go: grocery list, laundry, budget, library, shopping, housework (when we get to it) and making the meals for the week.  To sum it up...everything that does not get done Sunday through Friday, gets done on Saturday. Not Today. Admittedly, we did a few of the items: grocery list, shopping and laundry as well as a side to trip to Wild Things Farm.  We took little darling #2 strawberry picking for the first time.  We had a blast.  She would pick the berries and throw them in the basket.  Perfection is not what do you expect from a two year old.

It doesn't matter that every berry we have is bruised and battered(5+ pounds of bruised berries), we had a great time. Now....how do you freeze these suckas?

What Were They Thinking..

Photobucket

Seriously, this is the car I was following home today.  You can't tell from this picture, but that is a temporary tag on this vehicle.  This brings me to my point...did this happen before or after you purchased the car?  Hopefully after, but you never know.

That. Is. All!

Lost Earring

When I'm not at home, I manage a staff of 5 for a privately-owned corporation.  Today, I was wearing these really cute french hook earrings.  I absolutely love them.  I also have on a super cute top that has a scoop neck and brings out the girls.  I know where am I going with this.  Just hold on to your panties I'll get there.

I am meeting with "Sam" in my office.  He is sitting across from me.  I turn my head from the computer screen to look back him when suddenly my left earring comes loose and where does it land?  You guessed it.  Right down my shirt between the girls.

Of course, this would not be an issue for the "not so well endowed" as said earring would fall to the floor.  However, as we are both looking to see where it landed, I realize that it is has not only gone between the girls but has slipped through the cleavage and is stuck in my bra.  At this point I'm thinking...

1.  Is there a delicate way to tell your male employee he can stop looking for the earring as it is stuck between the girls?

2.  How do you extract said earring that is now becoming painfully embedded into said girls without it being noticeable?

3.  Most importantly...How will I every be able to wear these again without this scene being replayed?

As I am sitting there trying to maintain what little dignity I have left, I managed to get said earring removed thanks to a dropping a pen under the desk and a little jiggling.

P.S   Hubby was not amused!

What's All The Cramping About...

As you know last week I am in Beantown.  Loving it except for this terrible crampy feeling.  I'm like maybe I overdid the walking on Sunday.  Who new taking an out of shape transplanted Arkansan and having them site see for 5 hours would cause pain!  Well, I start spotting on Thursday.  WTH!  So I start running down the list of what could this be:

1.  Pregnancy....NOT!
2.  Cyst...Possibly, but not likely!
3.  ??????

Hmmmm!  I get home from Beantown and am working through filling my pillbox....I'm old...lots of different meds.  I can't keep track of them.  As I'm sorting through them, I notice that my birth control does not look like it normally does.  Again, WTH!  Then I remember.  My wonderful OB, whom I absolutely loved, gave me several samples the last time I was in.  I go and look....different dosage than what I normally take.  WTH!!!  Lesson to be learned....double check the meds no matter what.

P.S.   Nothing like two cycles within two weeks.  So sorry hubby!

Recycling....

Recycling is all in vogue. Little Darling #1's birthday is coming up and we decided to get him a new laptop. So we head to the store with the big yellow price tag. We got a good deal on a new Compaq.  Here's when I notice the in-store trade-in program. I'm thinking this is my chance to make Al Gore proud.

The program is for your slightly used electronic devices purchased from the retailer. This only applies to in-store trade-ins. Basically, you can go to their website, key in the information about said trade-in and they will give you an estimate. Sounds like a plan.

Now I know why no one recycles. The estimated value of a 3.5 year old laptop with a non-working battery.....$13.00. Seriously!  Look assholes at the yellow tag store, if you want to start saving the friggin' planet offer an incentive.

Let's look at it.  The laptop works.  No scratches, never dropped (as far as I know), and still works.  I'm just going to keep the sucker until it dies or give it away to a charitable organization.

Distractions Of The Real World... In Other Words...What Else Has Been Going On....

It's been a busy week.  I have been completely disconnected from the virtual world while staying in Boston.  Boston was fun. Great food, Great sites, Great Hotel...Maybe it was just being childless and only having to deal with my whims.  One will never know.

I love going to RIMS.  However, I always feel like I have run a 4 day Marathon and want to sleep the next 3.  I'm not going to get that opportunity as I am returning to a home that has been run by 2 men and a baby for the past 5 days.  Lord knows what I will find.

The loud thump heard round the world on Thursday Evening was not the latest earthquake, but instead my plane landing back in reality (or Arkansas, you choose).  My evening started with a run through "The Cow Place" as little darling #2 refers to it.  For the rest of us, it is Chick-fil-A.  Can you blame her?  Their mascot is a cow.

Today is Saturday.  I've only managed to get the shopping and the laundry finished.  I still need to cook this week's meals and clean the house.  If only I had a few extra arms!
